The national training system’s e-learning strategy, the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework) has been a sponsor of the ACPET conference for the last six years. As a ‘gold’ sponsor this year, the Framework joins forces with the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), including Australian International Education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Australia to deliver a combined exhibition area where delegates can:
- sample and purchase VET training products through TVET Australia
- find out how e-learning can be used to respond to the challenges of a modern economy and the training needs of Australian businesses and workers
- speak with DEEWR and AEI representatives about a variety of workplace and training needs.
The Framework is also offering several concurrent sessions throughout the conference, including:
- Demonstrating the benefits of e-learning as part of the industry sector workforce planning – Jenny Dodd, the Framework’s Industry Integration of E-learning Business Manager and Peter Higgs from TAFE Tasmania will discuss:
- What strategies are five industry sectors using for workforce planning and development?
- Why is e-learning being embedded?
- How are businesses benefiting from this industry-wide strategic approach?
- What tools are the industries developing that can be shared with others?
- Enablers and barriers to industry uptake of e-learning: Small business – Convenience, flexibility and accessibility are key factors driving the use of e-learning by small business. Annie Fergusson, the Framework’s Benchmarking and Research Business Manager, and Ron Mack from the Mack Consulting Group will present the results of recent research into e-learning uptake by small business.
- Engaging Indigenous Australians in VET – Rhonda Appo, Queensland E-learning Coordinator will give examples of how technology can be used to successfully engage Indigenous Australians in culturally acceptable ways and will discuss culturally appropriate tools for enhancing learning and working environments and engaging Indigenous learners.
