Would your organisation benefit from becoming more resourceful and efficient in the way it trains and retrains staff?

At this year’s National VET Research Conference (No Frills), to be held 8-10 July at the University of Ballarat, delegates can hear first hand how organisations from a variety of industries are using e-learning, and the support of e-learning ‘champions’, to innovatively meet their training needs now and into the future.

Ann Davenport, from the Benchmarking and Research business activity of the national training system’s e-learning strategy, the Australian Flexible Learning Framework (Framework), will present two interactive sessions:

E-pprenticeships: How e-learning is driving innovation in workplace training

This session will show how the plumbing, bakery, and building and construction industries are using e-learning strategies to promote responsive, flexible and effective training practices, such as higher rates of on-the-job training, and the use of e-learning tools, such as e-portfolios, to achieve increased efficiency and cost savings.

Champions driving change in VET

This session will outline specific examples of organisations that are using champions to help adopt and embed e-learning, and the way in which they provide a clear focus for sustaining e-learning by acting as advocates, building staff capability and modelling approaches that offer engaging and positive experiences for learners.

Both of the Framework’s sessions will take the form of an interactive workshop, designed to engage delegates in sharing their e-learning experiences.

Sponsored jointly by NCVER (National Centre for Vocational Education Research) and the University of Ballarat, the conference aims to bring together staff involved or interested in education and training including research, TAFE institutes, universities, private registered training organisations and consultants.

The conference focuses on strategies, observations and proven practices that can influence policy and practice to create an even better vocational education and training (VET) system in Australia.

The No Frills conference is currently fully booked, but you can be placed on a waiting list to attend. If you have any questions regarding your booking, or if you would like to be placed on a waiting list, please contact june.ingham [at] ncver.edu.au (Please replace at with @ to use the email address).
